Red Wine Negroni

Red Wine Negroni

For Day 3 of your Luxury Wine Advent journey, we’re elevating a classic cocktail with a luxurious wine twist. The Red Wine Negroni takes the bold flavors of the traditional Negroni and pairs them with a rich, fruit-forward red wine, offering a refined and unexpected take on this timeless drink. The Frenchie Red Blend adds depth and complexity, while the bitterness of Campari and the smooth sweetness of vermouth create a perfectly balanced cocktail that’s both daring and indulgent. Whether you're winding down after a busy day or toasting to a special moment, this wine cocktail is sure to impress.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Frenchie Red Blend (Day 3 Advent Wine)
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • Orange peel twist (for garnish)
  • Large Square Ice cube

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Glass: Start by filling a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice. Add enough ice to chill the drink without diluting it too quickly. If you prefer a more traditional presentation, you can use a short glass (like an Old Fashioned glass) or a coupe glass.
  2. Combine the Ingredients: Pour the Frenchie Red Blend, Campari, and sweet vermouth into the mixing glass over ice. Using a bar spoon or a stirring stick, stir the mixture for about 20 seconds, ensuring all the ingredients are well chilled and perfectly blended.
  3. Strain and Serve: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice. If you prefer a slightly stronger, more concentrated flavor, serve the drink straight up (without ice), but over ice is the classic presentation.
  4. Garnish: Using a vegetable peeler or sharp knife, peel a long strip of orange zest, making sure to avoid the bitter white pith. Twist the peel over the glass to release its essential oils, then drop it into the drink as a garnish. The bright citrus aroma will complement the rich, bold flavors of the wine and bitters.
  5. Sip and Enjoy: Take a moment to savor the first sip of this luxurious twist on a Negroni. The bold red wine harmonizes beautifully with the bittersweet Campari and the smooth, slightly herbal sweetness of vermouth. It’s a complex, sophisticated cocktail that balances rich and vibrant notes with a hint of citrus brightness.
