Seared Ahi Tuna with Citrus Dressing

Delicate, seared ahi tuna dressed with a bright citrus vinaigrette is a refreshing and elegant appetizer for the holidays. The crisp grapefruit and lime notes of Wattle Creek Sauvignon Blanc California 2023 complement the fresh, clean flavors of the tuna and the zesty dressing, creating a sophisticated pairing that’s light yet festive.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ahi tuna steaks
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Steps:

  1. Season tuna steaks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear tuna 1–2 minutes per side for rare, or to desired doneness. Remove and let rest briefly.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, ginger, orange juice, lime juice, and cilantro to make the citrus dressing.
  3. Slice tuna thinly and arrange on a serving platter. Drizzle with citrus dressing and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  4. Serve immediately alongside a glass of Wattle Creek Sauvignon Blanc.
