Mango Sticky Rice

Mango Sticky Rice is a classic dessert that’s both elegant and comforting. The rich coconut flavor and tender texture of the sticky rice pair beautifully with the bright, crisp notes of apple, pear, and subtle nutmeg in the DeLoach Chardonnay Mendocino County 2023, creating a festive and refreshing holiday treat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup glutinous (sticky) rice
  • 1 1/4 cups coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and sliced
  • Toasted sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  1. Rinse the sticky rice several times until the water runs clear. Soak for at least 1 hour, then drain.
  2. Steam the rice for 20–25 minutes until tender.
  3. While the rice cooks, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
  4. Pour about 3/4 of the coconut milk mixture over the cooked rice, stirring to combine. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Serve the sticky rice topped with mango slices and a drizzle of remaining coconut milk. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
  6. Enjoy alongside a glass of DeLoach Chardonnay Mendocino County 2023.
