Steakhouse Burgers

Steakhouse Burgers

As the days of Advent continue to unfold, there's no better way to celebrate Day 4 than with a deliciously hearty meal. These Steakhouse Burgers are the ultimate comfort food, packed with savory flavor and grilled to perfection. Whether you're gathering around the table with family or sharing a meal with friends, these juicy burgers are sure to be a hit. The combination of Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and scallions adds a burst of umami, while the soft buns and perfectly grilled patties complete this mouthwatering dish.

Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces white sandwich bread, crusts removed and cut into ¼-inch pieces
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 2½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 pounds 80 to 85% lean ground beef
  • 3 scallions, white and green parts, very finely sliced (optional)
  • 8 hamburger buns

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to high heat, ensuring it's nice and hot before cooking the burgers.
  2. Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, mash the white bread and milk together with a fork until it forms a chunky paste. Add the salt, pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup, mixing everything well until combined.
  3. Combine the Beef and Seasonings: Add the ground beef and finely sliced scallions (if using) to the bowl. Using your hands, break up the meat and mix it all together until everything is evenly incorporated.
  4. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and roll them into compact balls. Flatten each ball into a ¾-inch thick patty, approximately 4½ inches in diameter. Be sure to make a slight depression in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during grilling.
  5. Grill the Burgers: Oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Grill the burgers, covered, for 2 to 4 minutes on the first side until they’re nicely browned. Flip the burgers and cook for an additional few minutes until they reach your desired doneness. For an extra touch, toast the buns on the cooler side of the grill during the last few minutes of cooking.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove the burgers from the grill and serve them on the toasted buns. Top with your favorite toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles for a classic steakhouse experience. Pair with Luxury Advent Day 4 Wine!

Freezer-Friendly Instructions: If you have leftover uncooked patties, they can be frozen for up to three months. Lay them flat on a baking sheet to freeze individually before transferring them to a sealable plastic bag for easy storage. When ready to cook, defrost them overnight in the refrigerator and follow the grilling instructions as usual.
