Festival-Style Grilled Italian Sausage Sandwiches

Juicy Italian sausages grilled to perfection and tucked into a soft hoagie with sweet peppers, caramelized onions, and spicy mustard. Pure festival food energy. Andiamo's Montepulciano is a crowd-pleasing Italian red with rustic charm and enough depth to match every bold, savory bite.

Ingredients

  • Italian sausage links (sweet or hot)
  • Bell peppers, sliced (red, yellow, green)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Hoagie or sub rolls
  • Spicy brown or Dijon mustard
  • Optional: provolone cheese

Steps

  1. Grill sausages over medium heat, turning occasionally, until cooked through and nicely charred, about 12–15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, sauté peppers and onions in olive oil with salt and pepper until soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Toast rolls lightly on the grill.
  4. Spread mustard on rolls and layer with sausage, peppers, and onions.
  5. Add provolone if desired and serve hot.
