Fresh Nigiri Sushi Rolls

Delicate slices of fresh fish draped over hand-formed rice. Nigiri in its purest, most satisfying form. La Pluma's Chenin Blanc brings bright apple and honeysuckle notes with crisp acidity that lifts the clean flavors of fresh fish and seasoned rice without competing.

Ingredients

  • Sushi-grade fish (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, or your choice)
  • Sushi rice, cooked and seasoned with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt
  • Wasabi
  • Soy sauce for dipping
  • Pickled ginger for serving
  • Optional: sesame seeds or thin cucumber slices

Steps

  1. Cook and season sushi rice. Let cool to just below room temperature.
  2. Slice fish into thin, angled pieces about 1 inch wide.
  3. Wet hands, take a small amount of rice, and form into a compact oval with gentle pressure.
  4. Smear a small amount of wasabi on top and drape a fish slice over it.
  5. Arrange on a platter with pickled ginger and soy sauce for dipping. Serve fresh.
