Fortune Favors Merlot

Merlot with nothing to prove and everything to give. Soft and approachable from the first sip, but with more depth than it initially lets on. Ripe plum and black cherry at the core, plush and round, with a hint of dark chocolate that adds a quiet luxury. The tannins are smooth and velvety, the body medium-full and generous. A note of dried herbs drifts in toward the finish, giving the wine a little earthy lift.

The kind of red you can open on a Tuesday, and feel very pleased about it.

Summer Smash Burger

A thin, crispy-edged patty smashed onto a screaming hot griddle for maximum crust and flavor, loaded with melted cheese, pickles, and special sauce. Fortune Favors' Merlot brings plummy richness and velvety tannins that hold their own against the savory char and bold toppings.

Ingredients

  • 80/20 ground beef, formed into loose 3 oz balls
  • American cheese slices
  • Brioche buns, toasted
  • Dill pickles
  • White onion, thinly sliced
  • Special sauce: mayo, ketchup, yellow mustard, relish, garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

Steps

  1. Mix special sauce ingredients together and refrigerate until ready.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over high heat until very hot.
  3. Place a beef ball on the hot surface and immediately smash flat with a spatula or burger press. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook 2 minutes until edges are crispy and browned. Flip, add cheese, and cook 1 minute more.
  5. Toast brioche buns. Assemble with sauce, pickles, and raw onion. Serve immediately.
